Facilitated the first-ever FPO-Startup Focused Roundtable with Rabo Bank; Announcing ThinkAg's partnership with the Government of New South Wales, Australia
According to a 2017 NABARD publication, around 5,000 Farmer Producer Organizations are operating in the country. 80-90% of the members in the FPOs are small and marginal farmers. In India where farmers face several challenges to get economies of scale or adopt new technologies because of small and fragmented landholding, the power of collective farming can help solve the individual challenges faced by the farmer.
Rabo Bank in partnership with ThinkAg and ACCESS held the first of a kind ‘Partnership Exchange’ to build a bridge between farmer-producer organizations and agtech startups. This event which was held in New Delhi on the 30th of Aug received an overwhelming response with over 80 participants in the event from the startup and FPO eco-system.
The full-day session was divided across the stages of the farming lifecycle from inputs to the post-harvest stage. Expert organizations and startups focused on those areas presented and key challenges were discussed. A success story of a startup-FPO engagement with agtech startup Cropin and BAIF Development Research Foundation was showcased. The event concluded with a discussion of the steps needed to boost the FPO ecosystem.
Partnership with the Government of New South Wales, Australia
At Aglab our goal is to accelerate innovation for Indian food and agriculture. The partnership with NSW will bring startups from Australia to engage with the Indian agri corporates and techs for partnerships and investments. As part of this partnership, ThinkAg will be hosting two showcase events in Mumbai and Bangalore. These events would include presentations by the startups from NSW as well as new innovators from India to share knowledge and explore synergies. We are thrilled to be working with NSW and interacting with the Australian attach ecosystem. Watch this space for more updates
